Philosophy
Vedic astrology is called Jyotish, a
Sanskrit word that is derived from two roots, "Jyoti" and "Isha"
which respectively mean ‘Light’ and ‘God’. Jyotish is the science
of light, both the light of the celestial bodies and the internal
light of the soul. Jyotish unfolds the knowledge of how the
planets and the stars influence an individual human life as well as
the life of the nations, and the globe.
A human being is a creation of the cosmos. Therefore, all the
facets of human existence, including the past, present and future
are intimately connected to the influence of the planets and the
stars. The Sun by his daily movements and the changes of seasons
brings to perfection the embryo in plants and animals and brings
about various changes on the earth. The Moon being nearest to the
earth exercises much influence on it and as she wanes and waxes -
rivers swell, the tides of the sea are ruled and the plants and
animals affected. The Sun as the central figure predominates over
the entire arrangement of the celestial system.
Vedic astrology is a Super Science. Science means a
knowledge ascertained by observation and experiment, critically
tested, systematized and brought under general principles. Astrology
strictly fulfils all these criteria. Two aspects of astrology
deserve a special mention:
- The cause and
effect phenomenon
- The phenomenon of replication
In quantum physics consciousness plays a pivotal role. No
quantum phenomenon is a phenomenon until is observed in a
communicable form by a conscious observer. For example, a photon
exists both as a wave and as a particle, but the individual property
of a wave or a particle becomes manifest only when it is observed.
According to Vedic spiritual traditions, consciousness is not
something that comes about merely through the functioning of neural
connections in the brain but is a basic characteristics of all
reality, a spirit pervading all manifestations. The role of the
human nervous system is to provide an appropriate material structure
to individualize consciousness. In other words, we are the tuners of
the all-pervading field of cosmic awareness. The discoveries of
modern quantum physics seem, therefore, to parallel Vedic
conjectures about the nature of reality. |

Background
There is vast classical literature
and modern commentaries on Vedic Astrology. They fall in two
categories - one written by traditional astrologers couched in
language which a modern English speaking person finds difficult to
understand and other by modern English language writers who have
taken one aspect of Vedic Astrology for their theme. There are
very few books in English language that take not only a holistic
view of Vedic Astrology but also easily comprehensible by modern
educated persons.
It was also observed that people having formal qualification of
Vedic Astrology fail to grasp the comprehensiveness of the subject
to enable them to make effective predictions. From the vast
literature - classical and modern commentaries on each branch of
this esoteric science, it is often difficult for an astrologer to
retrieve or use them properly while reading a horoscope. In order to
fill this gap Jyotishacharya Vishnu Bhaskar has prepared
‘Vishnu Prediction Sheets’ after carefully reviewing the
literature, classical and modern commentaries, on each of the
branches of Vedic Astrology. Such Prediction Sheets have been prepared
for other predictive sciences, namely Palmistry, Numerology and
Tarot Reading. These Sheets have been prepared specially analyzed
value added keeping in view the needs of the querist to
facilitate the astrologer while making a reading.
In order to upgrade the skills of the practitioners of Vedic
Astrology and other predictive sciences the International
Institute of Vedic Astrology (IIVA) was launched in 2000 as a
finishing school for astrologers across the world.
The IIVA is involved in teaching, research and consultancy in
Vedic astrology internationally. There are about one hundred astrologer-students
from USA, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Norway, Japan,
Dubai, Singapore, Greece, Pakistan, Turkey and many parts of India in the IIVA.
Vision
